Charlie Sander

Chairman

Charlie is a computer industry veteran with over 25 years of experience in product development, business management, and building customer relationships. Prior to joining Confio as an investor and CEO in May 2004, he spent 15 years with Conner Peripherals/Seagate Technology. At Conner he was Senior Vice President and GM of its Personal Storage Group helping the company become the fastest ever to reach the Fortune 500. After a successful merger with Seagate in 1996, he became SVP of New Product Development heading up Seagate's design centers in Colorado, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Singapore. During Charlie's tenure, Seagate attained market dominance and received numerous accolades for its product lines. Prior to his career at Seagate,he held engineering and management positions with StorageTek and Miniscribe Corp. Charlie has a BSEE from the University of Texas at Austin.

Matt Larson

CEO and Founder

Matt Larson is the Founder and CEO of Confio Software. He also founded a financial firm whose partners included a former U.S. Senate Majority Leader and a former U.S. House Majority Leader. Previously, Mr. Larson helped found an oil and gas technology company. In the span of a year, the company grew from four employees to over two hundred employees while raising over $110 million in venture capital. In 2012, Mr. Larson was named an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist. Mr. Larson is an international speaker on topics related to database technology. He also is the co-author of five technology books. Mr. Larson holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Colorado where he graduated 1st in his class. He is a member of the Mensa Society.

Mr. and Mrs. Larson operate a family foundation dedicated to reducing child exploitation. They have lobbied successfully for hundreds of millions in additional federal spending dedicated to this cause. They are also partners in Social Venture Partners, a community of social investors who donate funds to fledging non-profits in a similar way to how venture capital firms fund startup companies.

Don Bergal

Chief Marketing Officer

Don is the Chief Marketing Officer at Confio and is responsible for overseeing all of the company's marketing, operations and business development initiatives. Don has over 15 years experience in the software, services and data communications industries, most recently with software developers Jabber, Inc. and Antepo, leading companies in the XMPP Instant Messaging market. He served as Vice President of Business Development for Antepo, launching the company's US operations. As Vice President of Marketing at Jabber, Inc., he led the product marketing, demand generation and communications programs, he established and executed the technology partnerships and positioning for Jabber, servicing the enterprise, ISP and mobile network marketplaces. Prior to joining Jabber, Don was a founding member of the management team at wireless data service provider Wireless Telecom (acquired by Vaultus), he held a range of responsibilities from Vice President of Marketing to Vice President of Product Development. Prior to that, he held product management, engineering management, and sales positions at SynOptics/BayNetworks and Rational Software. Don earned a BS in Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Jon Freeman

Vice President of Sales

Jon Freeman is the Vice President of Sales, responsible for all sales and support of the Confio customer base. Jon is an industry veteran with over 20 years of world-wide sales and sales management experience in direct, reseller and OEM channels. Prior to joining Confio he spent 7 years with Xirrus, a wireless vendor where he was responsible for their first product sales, OEM relationships, creating the first sales team and largest customer engagements including Microsoft. Prior to Xirrus he held sales management roles with Intel developing the first ecosystem sales for set-top and media centers resulting in the largest deployment for the company. And with Xircom where he managed a team of large account sales responsible for customer standards setting leading to a market share growth of 18% to 74% in 2 ½ years. Prior to this he held key rolls with Novell and Lotus Development direct sales and channels. Mr. Freeman holds an MBA from Herriot Watt University in Edinburgh.

David Bierman

Vice President of Engineering

Dave Bierman is Vice President of Engineering at Confio, responsible for all product development. He is also a contributing member of Confio's Product Management team. Dave has over 20 years of software development experience with a focus on systems that use relational databases. Prior to joining Confio, he spent several years at Rational Software leading teams to develop the RequisitePro product. He has also held many development and leadership positions with startups working on products ranging from pen-based computing to automated utility meter reading. Dave also participated on a team developing a warehouse automation system at IBM Canada. Dave holds both BS and MS in Computer Science from the University of New Brunswick, Canada.
