Q. What VMWare versions can be monitored?
A. AlarmVM can connect to either vCenter or the host. Supported versions include:
- vCenter Server 4.0 and higher
- ESX or ESXi 4.0 and higher (if connecting directly to the host)
Q. What are the AlarmVM installation requirements?
A. The AlarmVM installer automatically installs all of the required server components, including a SQL Server Express repository. Custom installation options are available for advanced installations.
AlarmVM Server:
- Windows server: 2003 SP1, or 2008 (2008 R2 preferred) or Windows desktop: XP (SP1 or higher), Vista, or Windows 7 (Windows 7 preferred)
- Hardware (physical or virtualized)

- Minimum 4GB of RAM
- Minimum 2 CPUs (physical or virtual)
- Network connectivity to your VMware environment
- Always on (e.g. a laptop might not be a good choice)

- SQL Server Express R2 (installed by default with AlarmVM)

A. AlarmVM is a sel-contained package, the only additional software required is a email client and a web browser.

A: Yes, a 30 day history of alarm metrics are recorded and displayed in both quantitative charts, and trends over time.
