Recently, I had the priviledge of speaking at several SQL Saturday events. For those of you who don’t know of this event, SQL Saturday is a FREE day of training for SQL Server professionals. It’s usually organized by a local user group and the few that I’ve been to have had a wealth of very useful information. These events are held on Saturdays only (hence the name), and there are usually more than 20 sessions to attend plus many free gifts given away (via the sponsers).
The best part is that these events are usually FREE!!! Or they may request that you pay for your lunch. Regardless, in this day of cut backs, lay offs, and ‘do more with less’ mentalities, this event is a wonderful way to keep up to date on your skills as a SQL Server Professional.
Unfortunately, for many of us in the Midwest and Western United States (I’m in Boulder, Co), SQL Saturdays are mainly hosted in the Southeast regions. To get more information on upcoming events, go to www.sqlsaturday.com.
I know I would definitely like to see these events expand west… How about you?
